Frequently asked questions

Before boarding

Amounts and lead times change every year: always check the figures on the official websites.

How much does leaving to study abroad cost?

It depends a lot on the country. German public universities often charge no tuition fees, France and Belgium charge moderate fees, and Canada and the United States are much more expensive. Add living costs, the visa and the flight: each journey details what to plan for.

What language level do I need?

It depends on the country and the course: French is often enough for France, Belgium and Quebec, English is required in English-speaking Canada and the United States (IELTS, TOEFL), and German in Germany (TestDaF, Goethe certificate), often at a B2 to C1 level.

How much time should I plan?

Plan generously: the language, the applications and the visa appointment often take several months. Each journey shows its estimated duration, and your dashboard works out a departure date.

Which documents should I prepare?

Usually: your diplomas and transcripts, often translated and certified, a language certificate, a CV, a cover letter, a valid passport and proof of funding. Each step of your journey lists the documents it asks for.

Studies, training or work: how do I choose?

Studies lead to a degree, such as a bachelor's or a master's. Some countries offer paid vocational training, like the Ausbildung in Germany. Other routes go through a work contract or an immigration programme, as in Canada. Each journey says who it is for.

How do I get the visa?

You usually need an admission, a contract or a job offer, proof of funding, health insurance and a valid passport. You apply at the embassy or the visa centre of the destination country, often by appointment, and the required amounts change every year.
